USA - Babylon?

Postby Levite03 on Wed Nov 28, 2007 11:28 pm

Hello guys,

I just read a piece from a well known bible prophecy scholar and author. He seems to lean towarding believing that the US is babylon. It disturbed me some, cause I know the end result. Is this a popular opinion?

Fist GLIMPSE OF THE BEAST (look the CONTRARY STATES on the map...)
Image

(in DARK BROWN COLOR)

2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard (Grecia), and his feet were as the feet of a bear (Persia), and his mouth as the mouth of a lion (Babylon): and the dragon gave him his power, and his throne, and great authority.

Revelation 13

Can you see the DARK BROWN STATES? They are suprisingly MATCHING the GRECIAN, BABYLONIAN and PERSIAN EMPIRE surface!

Thanks Paolo,

Although, I know this. I am just asking is this a popular view in general, not in this forum, cause a certain author of a certain "dummy's guide" to bibical prophecy leans to think this(according to his website). I don't.

respectfully,

I don't think it's a widely popular view overall, but has its supporters and detractors. I have read a bunch of stuff that leans that way, and to be sure, it is chilling to imagine, because frankly, much of punishable Babylonian attributes can be applied to the US.

However, there are indicators that I think disqualify us as a candidate. First of all, end time prophecy is centered in the same area it all began. (I'm still not sure the US is mentioned at all in end time scripture, which in and of itself is chilling.) The focus has always been there, and I think the Bible indicates it will end there as well. Also, the fact that when God describes the ultimate punishment of Babylon to Jeremiah in ch 50-51, He very specifically points out the actual area of original habitation. I also thinks Islam has to feature prominently with Babylon, since that's the basis for the beast kingdom. So Joel's idea of Saudi Arabia as Mystery Babylon is pretty interesting too.

To what author and website do you refer?

It is not a popular view, but it is one of the end time views. One of the most popular view is that Rome is Babylon. The book "The Women Rides the Beast" by Dave Hunt is a classic example of this line of thinking. Those here in America that hold to the Revived Roman Empire, like Hal Lindsey, tend to hold this as well. Although there are those in the "Revived Roman Empire" camp who think it will be the literal city of Babylon like Arnold Fruchtenbaum.

agrace,

Go to Richard Perry's website and read some of the things concerning babylon. Link is on Joel's site.

We always have to keep an open mind. Being a forensic eschatologist, we have to entertain every reasonable theory. I say this because I believe there can be more than one Babylon. Even Jerusalem is called Babylon in scripture. Moreover, prophecy often has double fulfillment (near and far) and sometimes double meaning. I agree with Joel's case that the Arabian Peninsula is a Babylon, and probably the penultimate one. But I think there is a very good case for the U.S. -- and particularly New York -- being a Babylon, exporting its spirits of excess and lust to corrupt the world further. New York, the center of world commerce.

Babylon

Postby BabySteps on Thu Jan 08, 2009 3:23 am

I kinda suspect that Kuwait might be the Babylon in question for a couple reasons.

One is that it's pretty much in the southern location of Babylonia Empire. Another is that, despite being an Islamic state, it's pretty sinful. Lots of wealth, sex and drinking and so on going on there. It's also a major importer of luxury items.

Another possibility might be the United Arab Emirates, look at what's going on in the city of Dubai.

I don't know, it could very well be Saudi Arabia.

It might be New York City, it also might be Paris or Amsterdam. It could be any or all of the major cities/nations on Earth.

It could be some other location that we did not expect. It's a mystery and I suspect we may never know until the time comes.

America is modern Babylon, there are OT prophecies on it, including Rev. 18.
Her destruction begins the "hour of trial" that's coming on the whole world Rev. 14:7-8. New York City is the city of Babylon and the United States is the country of Babylon.

Maybe Babylon is this grand Gentile world system we seem to be entering into and Islam is the beast that only tolerates her for a while and eventually devourers her.

Another thing I want to bring up.

Remember the seven kings in Revelation? Five have fallen etc, etc.

Turn back to Chapter 11 in Daniel we find there will be four more kings that rise up in Persia AFTER Darius. So counting from Nebuchad-nezzer whom we are told in chapter 2 is the first, Belshazzar would then seem to be the 2nd, and Darius 3rd. Considering that it seems there are to be, after Darius, four more kings to rise up in Persia (total 7). And it is this seventh king which stirs up all against realm of Javan. After the 'big stir' a little horn (eighth) rises up.

This little horn is commonly thought to rise up from Alexanders Greek Empire. But wasn't it Darius who Alexander came against and defeated? Darius was the third king spoken of in this line not the seventh. And it is the the seventh king who stirs up all against the realm of Javan in the time of the end.

Keep in mind now too when the He Goat and the Ram are spoken of in another chapter in Daniel no names of any kings are given it is only said they represent the kings of Javan, Madi and Persia and that this clash is at the time of the end.

Oh ya one more thing the only reference to eight named kings in the entire Bible is in the book of Ester. And they all are Persian too, just an FYI ;)
