Studying Ezekiel

Postby Screaming Eagle on Thu Oct 02, 2008 7:07 pm

I've got a question that's been rolling around in my head that I don't have an honest answer to. It's actually pretty fundamental which is even more intriguing. I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Assuming that at Ezekiel is at least recorded in chronological order (not given all at one time but successive 'word's' and visions in time sequence) how is it that the events in 36 and 37 (restoration of the tribes) must precede 38 (Gog and Magog) and THEN follow through with the construction of the Temple that is designed by God?
Seems to me that if we just follow the sequence of events, any Temple constructed before Gog and Magog is built out of 'flesh' or 'zeal' by human understanding and soulish 'want', and not by the hand of God. I realize how this might mess up our pet notions of how things will unfold but this is a serious question that I believe we need to consider before the Lord. I want to be obedient to Him, Truth and His word no matter what.
It occurs to me that this could be an 'undiscussed' part of the 'great falling away' that I haven't seen anyone talk about. Thoughts?
May the Lamb who was slain receive the just reward of His suffering.

I believe it is in order because the Temple of Ezekiel 40-44 isn't built in this age. If you do a study on that temple you will come to realize that it not only can't be built on the mount as it is today because of the size, but also that much of the sacrifices and the feasts have been changed by direction of God, which baffles the Rabbis still today. I can give you a good place to read about it if you want.

So the order is correct.

The restroation of Israel
The Gog war
The new earth with Temple instructions.

It is very difficult for people to imagine that the burying of the dead for 7 years is the beginning of the 1000 years, but that is how it begins.

There is no text that speaks of a physical temple being built in the end days. in otherwords no instructions to build one or command to do so in the prophecies.

in Him

These are drawn from the instructions in Ezekiel as to the layout of Israel during the Mill. Notice that the city of Jerusalem is one mile south of the Temple. Right now the old city of David is directly south of the Temple Mount and is about a mile long. So it will be south of the City of Jerusalem as it is today.
It will be a square city. A square in a square sort of set up.

These are not instructions for this age, but will be built in the new age after many changes have taken place in the land, as per scripture.

Why would God want or permit a temple built for sacrifice when sacrifice is no longer needed? It would fly in the face of what Christ has done on the cross.

David

Jesus in Luke 14:28-33 seems to be suggesting in a tongue in cheek way that the Jewish people will attempt to build a temple so that they can be "disciples of God's Messiah" at the end of their fourth age just before the Messiah's second coming when they will have to accept his terms of peace because they realise that they cannot overcome him and that he is the Prince of peace.
