Just because I have a vivid imagination, I'd like to present a potential real life scenario for all of us to consider. The assumption is that things are going down exactly as presented. No finger pointing or blame. No 'but it will never happen here'. The assumption is that it 'has' happened here. How do you and your family respond? How will our government respond ultimately? How will the 'church' as a Living Body respond?
You have what you have regarding food, fuel, supplies, home and property including weapons. Banks are probably locked tight. Major arteries of transportation are closed off.
It's you and Jesus and your family. And your children are separate from you at the moment and vulnerable. Here it is:

One day we wake up to the news that several (8 or so?) people from an assortment of Islamic networks have announced their presence in the United States. From several different strategic cities (New York, Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Houston, New Orleans, Seattle, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, Birmingham, Nashville)they make it clear with proof that they have smuggled nuclear weapons in and have them cocked and ready to fire. Their demand? Give us your Jews. None of your business what we do with them, you have 48 hours to give us every Jew and every Jew sympathizer in this country. Deliver them to specified places where we have arranged transport and we will go away. Maybe they detonate a small tactical suitcase nuke in Omaha, Ne, one in L.A. and one in Virginia just to demonstrate that they're serious.
The President, Homeland Security advisor, Chiefs of the Military, even the leaders of the Federal Reserve (which is not a U.S. government agency by the way; it's owned by foreign bankers) agree to give in. Pastors and leaders of major denominations in this country come on local broadcasts and say that our children will be murdered in their very schools, homes and gathering places if we do not agree with the President's decree. They explain that this is to save the lives of our innocent children and has nothing to do with politics. IThey pull out Romans 13 and say 'submit'. If all we have to do is to give up a few million Jews (and most of them are concentrated in urban areas anyhow) let us save our own families, our own nation, our own economy....our own behinds.
Small hotels all around America have closed off rooms and are refusing to rent rooms to travelers. Just so happens that many of the owners of those rooms are Muslim. Small, formerly Mom and Pop, gasoline and convenience stores are closed. Some have even been sabotaged and blown up as an indication of sincerity. The owners didn't show up because this goes down on a Friday. We have until Monday to roll belly up or watch our cities burn and children (who are now captive) murdered. On Saturday morning, National Guard and military units supported by State and local police are enforcing strict no travel curfews.
The challenge is do we, as individuals, give in to protect our very precious children, or do we risk our personal lives and the future of this nation to protect people that God has proclaimed are 'His' people. Do we show them mercy to protect them from unseen forces, or do we turn our backs and give complicit approval as the church did in 1930's Germany?
Just for the sake of the whole picture, this same demand is made to nations all over the world at the same time. Russia, France, England, Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece and Turkey have already given in, having rotted from the inside out. People are being herded to specified places at this moment. Israel proper is beset with blockades allowing noone in or out so diplomatic 'missions' that would have tried to negotiate in the past are not an option now.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. What do you do? The clock is ticking.

Though some of these concerns are very troublesome and will present many problems and dangers some are IMHO worldy concerns. I don't mean to say this period of time should be easy. But being we have been comissioned to preach the gospel unto all the nations. Im fairly certain great tribulation is not referring to what will happen to the world but rather to the saints who are persecuted for His sake, the world will go on about it's business until the day of wrath.

When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them. Deuteronomy 4:30-31

Think about it, In the last days some will be doing what they have always done just as in the days of Noe. Does that sound like tribulation? I believe when we are told we will face tribulation it is referring to those who stand on that Solid Rock.

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
