Well, Norma, If you will not answer Mishael's or my question, I will attempt to answer it from your evasions.

Paul thought Jesus would return in his lifetime and therefore thought he would consume the man of sin with the "spirit of his mouth" and "destroy him with the brightness of his coming". But, sense Jesus' return is delayed Paul was mistaken(wrong, teaching false(untrue) doctrine), just as the other Apostles were teaching falsely that Jesus would return in their lifetime.

For you see, Norma, teaching immenency(That Jesus can return at anytime) and teaching that he is coming in their LIFETIME are two different things. One is true for he comes as a thief in the night, the other is blantantly false to those generations that he does not come, which included the generation of the Apostles.

Hi, I'm new at this forum and this seems to be an interesting topic. I have a question, though, since I'm not really good with all this interpretation of prophecy.

Daniel 9:27 in the King James says: " 27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

In the YLT (Young's Literal Translation): "27And he hath strengthened a covenant with many -- one week, and [in] the midst of the week he causeth sacrifice and present to cease, and by the wing of abominations he is making desolate, even till the consummation, and that which is determined is poured on the desolate one.' "

Right now, there aren't sacrifices happening in Jerusalem because there is no temple. Isn't the existence of a temple necessary for sacrifices to be happening in order for them to be stopped?

Maybe I'm just being dense, but it seems to me that according to Daniel 9:27, there should be a temple in Jerusalem when all this happens.

Here is my two scents, MaxillaryPun.

The one week represents 7 years.
The peace treaty will be signed between Israel and the Anti-Christ figure at the beginning of that 7 year period (also know as the Tribulation)
So half way, 3 1/2 years into the peace, during which time the Anti-Christ figure WILL allow not only the Re-building of the Temple, but a resuming of the practice of sacrifices and offerings, the Anti-Christ will then change his mind. The Peace Treaty is a false treaty.
Therefore, he will put an end to the sacrifices in the Temple and set up the Abomination that causes Desolation.

Hope this helps.
God Bless

I apologize if this was said before. Regarding the 3rd Temple. There is a possibility that the temple so often mentioned in which the Antichrist will sit, is actually the Dome of the Rock mosque. The word “temple” doesn’t necessarily mean the Jewish Temple, it can also mean a pagan temple or shrine. The Muslim Antichrist can very well sit “as God in the temple of God” like the Bible says, that is in the Dome of the Rock or in front of it on the Temple Mount just like God sits in His Temple in heaven. I think this is more probable, because Messiah will build the actual Temple when He comes. The ‘daily sacrifice’ that Daniel mentions could very well be the daily prayers the Jews pray at the Western Wall. Just my opinion.

The writer of Acts tells us The Lord will rebuild: "'After these things I will return, and I will rebuild the tabernacle of David which has fallen, and I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it, so that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the gentiles who are called by my name, 'says the Lord, who makes these things known from long ago." Acts 15:16-18

Zechariah eight is an amazing look into the future that has not been fulfilled, 8:3-5 describes: ""Thus says the LORD, 'I will return to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the LORD of hosts {will be called} the Holy Mountain.'"Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Old men and old women will again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each man with his staff in his hand because of age. 'And the streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing in its streets.'... "'So many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of the LORD.'

It is my view that Daniel 9 24-27 covers approximately 3,500 years of prophecy. Verse 24 deals with Israel. Verse 25-26a, deals with the Messiah's first coming. Verse 26b deals with the 2,000 years/2 ages of Israels seperation from God when God will walk contrary with Israel, and when they will be scattered to the four corners of the earth. This section also deals with the judgement of the desolator, the fourth beast. And finally verse 27 deals with the last 23 or so years of the Millemium age.

It is in this finial period that the covenant is entered into for one week.

Shalom

<BUMP> :D

I have always been told Anti-Christ will sit in the temple but lately after reading for my self. I cannot find where it is written he will literally sit in the temple. From what I've read Anti-Christ only speaks of it figuratively as he exalts himself and says in his heart he will ascend. I ponder the possibilty too that Jerusalem itself is the mount or that holy place spoken of in scripture.

Isaiah 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

Daniel 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

Daniel 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

Ezekiel 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

2Thessolonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

This one verse had lead me to believe (based on what others told me it meant) he is going to literally sit in the seat of God. To that I say it is without a doubt IMPOSSIBLE for a man to do! And after reading the others I now believe too it to be figurative speech. Just as if I somebody went around exalting himself then going to Jeruselam with an army and saying I am king now. Whats going to happen after that you ask? Yeshua will come down from Heaven and destroy him thats what! The other problem I have with a literal seating is the only Temple of God referenced in the New Testement is in heaven. The Anti-Christ is only a man with a wicked heart. Is it possible for a man to tell the God of Heaven sorry but thats my seat AND actually get to sit in it? I think not.

Revelation 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

The other point I want to bring up is the overspreadig of abominations making desolate and what is it that is being made desolate. In MATHEW and MARK it is refered to the holy place which I and others have assumed to mean the temple. But in LUKE I think the holy place is positively identified as none othert than Jerusalem herself.

Mathew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

Daniel 9:27 (1611ed.) translation: overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate is also translated as: overspreading of armies he shall make it desolate. it I think, is Jerusalem not the Temple. Jerusalem is the holy place that is being made desolate by the overspreading of armies.

Your confusion as to whether he sits or stands in the temple can be solved by the AC committing two different abominations in the temple at different times within the last 7 years.

The first abomination is him standing in the temple proclaiming to be God, Paul told the Thessalonians and us to look for it. It must happen during the church age and before the day of the Lord begins. This is the same abomination Judeans are to look for in Mt. 24:15 - “So when you see standing in the holy place.........” The “holy place” is the “wing” of the temple adjacent to the Most Holy Place where the Ark of the Covenant will be. The wing of the temple is the same width and twice as long as the Most Holy Place.

The second abomination is after the rapture and just after the “sudden destruction” that comes upon the world (1 Thess. 5:3). The false prophet who exercises all the authority of the AC sets up an image of the AC that is able to breath, talk and issue orders (Rev. 13:12, 14-17). The Ark of the Covenant that was in the Most Holy Place before is removed and replace by the image.

When the AC stands in the temple and proclaims to be God he will also put an end to sacrifices and offerings, then after the Tribulation begins the image is set up.
