There is a possibility that the temple so often mentioned in which the Antichrist will sit, is actually the Dome of the Rock mosque. The word “temple” doesn’t necessarily mean the Jewish Temple, it can also mean a pagan temple or shrine. The Muslim Antichrist can very well sit “as God in the temple of God” like the Bible says, that is in the Dome of the Rock or in front of it on the Temple Mount just like God sits in His Temple in heaven. I think this is more probable, because Messiah will build the actual Temple when He comes. The ‘daily sacrifice’ that Daniel mentions could very well be the daily prayers the Jews pray at the Western Wall. Just my opinion.

I have always been told Anti-Christ will sit in the temple but lately after reading for my self. I cannot find where it is written he will literally sit in the temple. From what I've read Anti-Christ only speaks of it figuratively as he exalts himself and says in his heart he will ascend. I ponder the possibilty too that Jerusalem itself is the mount or that holy place spoken of in scripture.
Isaiah 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Daniel 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
Daniel 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
Ezekiel 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
2Thessolonians 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
This one verse had lead me to believe (based on what others told me it meant) he is going to literally sit in the seat of God. To that I say it is without a doubt IMPOSSIBLE for a man to do! And after reading the others I now believe too it to be figurative speech. Just as if I somebody went around exalting himself then going to Jeruselam with an army and saying I am king now. Whats going to happen after that you ask? Yeshua will come down from Heaven and destroy him thats what! The other problem I have with a literal seating is the only Temple of God referenced in the New Testement is in heaven. The Anti-Christ is only a man with a wicked heart. Is it possible for a man to tell the God of Heaven sorry but thats my seat AND actually get to sit in it? I think not.
Revelation 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
The other point I want to bring up is the overspreadig of abominations making desolate and what is it that is being made desolate. In MATHEW and MARK it is refered to the holy place which I and others have assumed to mean the temple. But in LUKE I think the holy place is positively identified as none othert than Jerusalem herself.
Mathew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
Luke 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Daniel 9:27 (1611ed.) translation: overspreading of
abominations he shall make
it desolate is also translated as: overspreading of
armies he shall make
it desolate.
it I think, is Jerusalem not the Temple. Jerusalem is the holy place that is being made desolate by the overspreading of armies.
